Murray State University’s President’s Office and Town & Gown partnership will sponsor a Holiday Open House at Oakhurst (1510 Main Street) from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Dec. 1. The event is open to all Murray State faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members. Light refreshments will be provided.

The following evening, the annual Town & Gown Community Band and Choir Holiday Concert will take place on Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church. The free event is open to the entire community. The chorus will be led by Dr. Brad Almquist with several selections including the Murray Elementary School’s Children’s Ensemble. Dr. Todd Hill will lead the band with Dr. Todd French serving as guest conductor for “O Magnum Mysterium.” Both the chorus and band will combine for a portion of the concert as well.

“We’re very excited to offer this great concert to the community, as the sounds of the season will surely put attendees in the holiday spirit,” said Carol Brunn, Murray State Town & Gown coordinator. “We’re very appreciative of all of our Town & Gown partners who allow us to provide events such as these that the community can truly enjoy.”

The Murray State University Town & Gown Partnership enhances the quality of living and learning in the community through fostering improved communication between the University and local citizens, facilitating the discussion of community concerns, organizing educational events which promote the history, culture, and commerce of the region, and investing in collaborative partnerships with philanthropic and community service organizations.
