The Master of Science (MS) degree in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) with an emphasis in Safety Management will prepare individuals for leadership careers in the field.  This program is designed for those already working in the field and is especially applicable for those individuals who have a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a closely related degree. The program is accredited through the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

The online degree program is offered by MSU’s Department of Occupational Safety and Health and is equivalent to the on-campus program.  Murray State graduates hold positions in various areas, including government, construction, manufacturing, insurance and petro/chemical industries.

Online Cohort

Students will go through the online program within a cohort, beginning the program with other cohort members at the same time and then completing the program together in just under two years.  Students will enroll in an average of two half-semester courses per semester for six semesters total.  A new cohort will be offered each July.

On-campus Requirement

The only on-campus requirement will be to attend a one-week orientation, which includes instruction time, in late July. No other courses will require on-campus presence. During this week, individuals will receive an orientation to the university, learn how to utilize online library resources, complete administrative tasks, meet the faculty, but most importantly meet the fellow students who will also be enrolled in the cohort.
